How to switch lower case to upper case and upper case to lower case in a string
How to switch lower case to upper case and upper case to lower case in a string, to reverese lower and upper case, change all upper case to lower case andall lower case to upper case

 



How to switch lower case to upper case and upper case to lower case in a string

$ echo "lower case characters aND UPPER CASE CHARACTERS" | tr '[a-z][A-Z]' '[A-Z][a-z]'
LOWER CASE CHARACTERS And upper case characters
$ echo "lower case characters aND UPPER CASE CHARACTERS" | tr '[:lower:][:upper:]' '[:upper:][:lower:]'
LOWER CASE CHARACTERS And upper case characters

tr '[a-z][A-Z]' '[A-Z][a-z]' converts in a string (or in a file if we use < input_file) lower case letters to upper case letters and upper case letters to lower case letters. Both syntaxes can be used. Works on bash shell on BSD & Linux.
